Long Tail Ventures (ABN 78 655 643 816) — "we", "us", "our" — explains here how we handle personal information collected through longtail.ventures. We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

1. What we collect

This website has no accounts and no logins. In ordinary browsing we collect very little.

  • Server logs. Our hosting provider records your IP address, browser type, and the pages you request. We use these to serve the site, diagnose faults, and detect abuse.
  • Analytics. If you accept analytics cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read and how people arrive. Nothing from Google loads until you accept — decline and no analytics cookies are set at all. IP addresses are handled by Google in accordance with their terms.
  • Your choices. Your theme preference and your analytics decision are stored in your browser under the keys ltv-theme and ltv-consent. Both stay on your device and are never sent to us.
  • Booking. If you book a consultation, the scheduling widget on this page is provided by Calendly and collects what you enter into it directly. Loading that section places you in contact with Calendly’s servers.
  • What you send us. If you use the contact form or email us, we collect what you choose to provide — typically your name, work email, organisation, and your message.

We do not collect sensitive information as defined by the Privacy Act, and we do not buy personal information from third parties.

2. How we use it

We use what we collect to respond to your enquiry, to operate and improve this website, and to meet our legal obligations. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.

3. Who we share it with

We share personal information only with the service providers that make this site work, and only to the extent they need it:

  • Google Cloud Platform — hosting and content delivery for this website.
  • Google Analytics — website usage measurement.
  • Web3Forms — delivery of contact form submissions to our mailbox.
  • Calendly — scheduling, where you book a consultation through the booking section of this site. Calendly receives the name, email and any details you enter into it.
  • Our email provider — receipt and storage of the messages you send us.

Some of these providers store or process data outside Australia. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure the information remains protected to a standard comparable to the Australian Privacy Principles.

4. Cookies and opting out

Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them in the banner shown on your first visit. You can change that decision at any time using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer; declining also deletes any analytics cookies already set. Beyond those, the embedded scheduling widget may set its own cookies when you interact with it. Declining does not affect your use of the site.

5. How long we keep it

Enquiries are kept for as long as we have an active or prospective relationship with you, and then for a further period where we are required to retain records. Analytics data is retained according to the retention period configured in Google Analytics.

6. Accessing and correcting your information

You may ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Send the request through our contact form and we will respond within a reasonable period.

If you are not satisfied with how we have handled a privacy matter, you may complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published at this address, with the date it was last updated shown above.
